Auschwitz and Wieliczka Salt Mine - You can opt to do this tour over two days or all in one day. Due to time constraints we opted to do both in the one day, but I strongly recommend to take the two day option if you can. Personally whilst i have read a lot about those terrible times this was an eye opener. This first camp was not like I expected, all big red brick buildings as it was originally a Polish Army Barracks and very substantial - it is just what went on behind those walls that is so terrifying. From there back to krakow to begin the salt mine tour. Alexandra our guide who actually majored in anthropology was extremely knowledgeable and you could see she loved her work. The mine is no longer used for mining. But there are several chambers that are used for parties, recitals, shows and such like - it is awesome. It is actually set up as a museum. There are many companies that do these tours, but I can highly recommend Discover Poland.
We enjoyed our trip, thanks for your help!
Incredible tour, we did the one day tour that included a half day at Auschwitz-Birkenau and a half day the Salt Mines. The tour guides on the Auschwitz-Birkenau tour were fantastic. The tour guide on the salt mine tour was also excellent. The mine itself is fascinating and the guide was very knowledgable.
Discover Poland made for our company an excellent program to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.. We were very pleased with the enthusiasm of the staff, especially Sebastian, and with the high degree of input into the program. Virtually everything was possible and feasible for every budget. We, as a group of 26 people, were nicely picked up by a touring car from Krakow-airport, have enjoyed a sightseeing with eco-cars and had diner in a medieval restaurant. And afterwards a drink after wards at one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The next morning we solved in teams a "theft". using clues of actors, who are stood in the beautiful centre. A fun game with a thrilling plot. After a fine lunch on a special location, with views on Wawel and Wisla, a part of our group visited Nowa Huta in classic cars. The rest took the city bike to a monastery, just outside Krakow. The highlight was the dinner in Wierzynek at the main square, a beautiful building that already in 1364 played a prominent role in Polish history. Both the food and the service were excellent. After a few final drinks in town and a short night sleep, we went back to the Netherlands again.. We highly recommend Discover Poland to companies who like to spend a special time in a very special town..
We (2 couples from Canada) had arranged this trip well in advance of our arrival in Krakow and were looking forward to the day with much anticipation. Our driver and tour guide arrived at our hotel on time and ready for the day. The driver was pleasant and very skilled. Our tour guide was also very pleasant, knowledgeable and well-prepared. All tickets/passes/reservations were pre-arranged and the day was flawless. Upon arriving in Zakopane we were introduced to the architecture of the region, took a stroll down the main road, examined some local artistry and enjoyed a visit to a lovely old cemetery and chapel. We then relished a 1.5 hour trek in the foothills to a beautiful waterfall. We had lunch at an authentic highlander’s restaurant and finished the day with a cable-car lift to the top of the Tatra range. The whole day was lovely and a definite highlight of our vacation. Highly recommend.
I wanted to show to my friends Cracow - the city where I was born and spend my childhood so I contacted Discover Poland because of a recommendation from my sister friend. Although I know the city quite well because of many years spent there I needed somebody to handle the logistics and do the detailed planning. It ended with a great 4 day stay with visit of historical city (no queuing, waiting or walking for hours – instead we had a very nice driver who took us from point to point when needed) , very well placed tables in restaurants for lunches and in clubs for night live. We could also do some last minutes changes on the day of our arrival without paying extra. The only think what could be improve is the tour guide that we had in Auschwitz who was quite repetitive and reused the same sentence more than 10 times (I believe) during our visit. On the contrary the salt mine guide was simply amazing: telling jokes all the time and providing interesting story. Ah one last thing: when making booking ask for nice weather, we unfortunately got heavy rain on the first day and clouded sky during the entire stay.
The tour was perfect! An unforgettable and very impressive day! perfectly organized, great guide with immense knowledge! Very touching altogether, thank you very much! This tour will stay in our memory throughout the whole life!
We booked several tours through Discover Poland. First was Audchwitz and the tour guide was incredible. Her explanations were very thorough and insightful. Thank you Monica. We also toured the Black Madonna Shrine, thank you sister for the tour and to the driver who offered us his phone to take and call him when we were ready to leave. Thank you Jacob for an extremely interesting ride to the Dunajec River tour. You were like a built in history lesson. And to the last young man who took us to the John Paul II museum, I can't remember your name, thank you for the treats that you gave us. All of the people we encountered through this group were fantastic and I would recommend them highly.
The guide was really perfect and I heard only incredible feedbacks from my guests, they just loved the tour!
The tour was very nice and all worked out perfectly
